“What’s Smorty?” I hear you say? Smorty, dear brethren is the latest sponsor on JGoth.com which helps Igor get paid for blogging. Essentially Smorty, pays the blogger (in this case your host, moi) to write their opinion on a range of topics, services, products, etc. Smorty may sound funny, but they seem like a down to Earth group giving solid advice on how to operate in a blogvertising world.
According to the official blurb:
Smorty is a service connecting advertisers with bloggers. Advertisers can pay bloggers to write opinion posts with links back to the advertisers site.
The reason for Igor’s blog sponsorship expansion is simple - Google alone does not pay the Web rent. Sometimes Google covers expenses, but to really break even (and possibly get a bit of drinking money) I really need the support of blog sponsors like Smorty.
If you are a blogger looking to do some expansion, then I would recommend looking into Smorty. I was mightily impressed with their straight forward answer to one question that I had regarding how to stop getting zeroed by Google while writing sponsored blogs – it would have been nice if one of the other blog sponsor sites put up similar information before someone loses their Google rank (like me).
