I took a look at some phone cards at a site called www.getmecallingcards.com, which provides a wide array of calling cards and claims to be “one of the largest retailers of phone cards, with 459 different phone cards from all major vendors.” Regardless, that is a helluva lot of cards! But which card would I pick?
First I will tell you I avoid the cheap cards because I believe you get what you pay for - also I personally had a bad experience with a cheaper card in Japan, and a good experience with a more expensive card.
So I picked the Travel Globe Card that offers me ready calling to Australia for around 35c per minute. There were cards offering rates of 4c per minute, but after my experience with one ultra-cheap card issued in Japan I would feel much safer with a card that offers reasonable rates. My second choice (again looking a expected value for a premium) would be the AT&T card whose Japan to Australia rate is quite high at 50c per minute, but you could expect very high quality connections and service.
So that’s my take on a site offering an amazing 459 international calling cards.
