After covering Japan’s Goth scene for three years, I am kind of at a cross-road as to what I should do. I love the scene, but recent events in my personal life have kept me at home for a long while and I really only have had a chance to do event announcements and CD reviews. I have really enjoyed parts of what I do, but it has not been a money-making venture - even with the Google and Amazon ads. So I decided after three years that new directions in the content and the advertising should be made.
On the content side, I have expanded to looking at underground music outside Japan, as you can see with a short series on Greek Gothic bands like Forkys and Illusion Fades. This will hopefully expand the audience. On the advertising models I have extended with a few extra links and even created a donate button if people feel they want to give.
However, the latest addition seems to be the most interesting – I signed up for Pay Per Post (PPP), which offers a chance to get paid to blog about items that may be of interest to readers. I am not sure how much Pay Per Post content would be Goth/alternative in nature, but I think there should be a few interesting things to post about on JGoth.com.
I haven’t sold out - at least I don’t think so ;-). JGoth will always be devoted to Japan’s Gothic underground bands, but will also be looking at Goth/alternative things from all over the world. As to PPP’s role in this expansion, I feel quietly positive that this could help give the site new areas to focus on and new arenas to venture forth into. We shall see 
Oh, and if they do accept Igor’s humble registration and I get to make enough to cover server costs, I’ll be shopping for some classic computer games!
