:: Igor’s Monthly Blah ::

First up, a big hello to all the new members! Thank you for signing up and taking the plunge. Feel free to get on the boards and have a bit of a natter or whatever you feel comfortable with. Folks here are friendly as too are the Japanese Goth-underground people so relax and enjoy!

Second up, I’d like to introduce fellow eikaiwa escapee, Zac. Zac’s going to be doing some of the necessary drudge work to keep this place going and also help out streamlining things so JGoth.com can continue AND I can get time for things like socializing, study and ET-CET-ER-A! While largely unseen, Zac has been filling in on a few fronts (including some serious technical support in December)! THANK YOU ZAC!

– Igor

:: Introducing Zac ::

Thanks Igs.

Hi, I’m Zac (you might remember me as zaibatsu_zombie), and will be Second In Command Kids, or SICK Editor at JGoth.com (Igor’s idea). This means I will be sending occasional emails (like this) to you delightful and progressive adventurers, and updating some of the events on the site. Igs and I will also be cooking up a couple of large projects elsewhere.

I am not Goth, but this mad project is interesting and worth some time. Igor has been punishing himself with JGoth.com for over two years, and it inspired me to endure the pain with him (I might be Goth…).

As we work together, there will be changes to the site that should become more apparent in August. While many of the changes will be streamlining, I believe that you will find functionality shall improve. A better site for less work.

Enough from us, let’s get onto the Goth things.

:: JULY GOTH EVENTS ::

This seems to be festival season with 20 events taking place. With so many events to choose from, we decided to add a few “awards” to help newbies get a clue. Of course, you should feel free to explore whatever show takes your fancy.

The most peculiar event of the month would have to be Aural Vampire’s gig at Club Goodman as they will appear in a show with rock fish-mongers.

At 1,000 yen, the Architectures of Futurity events (July 8 with Psydoll and July 15 with Control Freak) are picked as the best deals of the month.

Igor’s picks of the month are Speed-iD’s iNDEEP release party (July 22) and Cut the Crap’s Varitech (July 7).

My selections are Tokyo Dark Castle (July 1), because Igor tells me it is the best, and function code()’s The Pet Plants (July 1), because the bands are all fronted by grrls.

Aside from a lengthy list of Tokyo events there are two events for Osaka, and one each for Nagoya and Kobe.
