In other strange news I received a beautiful looking CD case, which I assumed would be for review. Unfortunately there was no CD in said case. Oops. I hope I’m the only one to receive this surprise!

Bio
Originally formed in Athens, in September 2004 by Stelios Mastrodiamadoglou (keyboards, guitar), Thalia Makri (vocals, lyrics) and George Kokkoras (drums, percussion), Glimmer Void started working on experimental ideas to create songs that combine ethereal female vocals with dark atmospheric melodies.

The band felt completed only after Vaggelis Babadelis (guitar) and Diana Rahmanina (cello) joined in
The process of recording began no sooner than the year 2006 and the result of it was the debut album “Souls Parade” consisting of 5 tracks.
“Souls Parade” is now out thanks to Dead Scarlet Records.

At the present time, there are two new members, George Skoufas, (male vocals and bass guitar) and Dimitris Zannis at the guitar, after Vaggelis left the band.

Glimmer Void is now giving live concerts to the Greek audience and continues writing new songs for their next album.

A million dollar uber-flop with less than 100 users - sheesh. Meanwhile I’m just letting the old Gothers.com site slowly tick up to 1000. It is only a matter of time and patience and only cost a few hundred plus some amateurish coding to string together.

I guess I am not tied to satisfying customer (company) needs and dreams, just to what I think the user/member may like.  No need for fancy logos or company colors, just what I think or can do. But at a million dollars even a failure would need to pull in 1000 surely? Maybe not.

I guess since I have been persona non grata in the local Goth scene and launched the surprisingly successful Gothers.com site has taken me away from the ol’ JGoth site and the monomaniacal urge to write about local events has disappated. Not to worry, the major planned events are up and if you are already in the scene you probably have a lot more knowledge of upcoming events than I could put up here.

I miss the gigs and parties and people and vibrancy of this underground scene, but there is never enough time these days. I hope to get to a gig or two later in the year.

For now I just want to say hello to my blog and anyone who is reading it. And if you are looking for party information start by searching Tokyo Dark Castle or Midnight Mess in the search box. Or if you are in Nagoya look for Stigmatic and in Osaka, Dark Veil I think.

Aside from Number 23 the band serves out a number gamboling vitriolic selection of songs.

The second track Absolution is a speedballing riot of a song, while Prison G starts as a slower somber track which explodes into a heavy rock part-way through. The forth track, Breaking Point, a quality hard electro piece, is followed by straight hard rock in Subsonic. The final song, Suck, is a fun speed rock piece.

Overall, I found this EP quite enjoyable and quite refreshing with tongue-in-cheek songs like Number 23 and Suck. The other songs also go down well on my iPod. Just don’t mention the number 23 around these guys.

Of course, having all the social skills of a rabid tarantula it is actually hard for me to be a… perky Goth. So Gothers.com works well for me, because it you can socialize, blog, be dour or perky, start a group or just muss about in the forums. You guys create the experience while I just hammer on extra bits as they come along. Who knows, Gothers.com could make me p-p-p-p-perky too.

To readers of JGoth who are wondering just where the hell to go, I would say keep both JGoth.com and Gothers.com in your bookmarks. I will continue doing my blog on JGoth with some event information and be doing more reviewing and stuff. But check out Gothers, because its showing signs of going slightly viral (green phlegm and all).
