Will it all end in 2008?

Someone did a whole series of Nostradamus videos relating to next year that I decided to plug into the JGoth system so people (including myself) can check them out during the new year slowdown.

If you are still interested there are four other videos available from this person. I took them off here because it was paralyzing the page.

Now here is a Christmas movie I’d like to see. Johnny Depp as a 19th century serial killer. Armed with his razors edge, Johnny ain’t redecorating the hedges a la Edward Scissor hands. Oh, no. This time he’s taking a swipe at a few throats in his latest movie, Sweeney Todd opening December 21 – check the promo!

Like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I had heard of Sweeney Todd, but was not particularly interested until I saw that Mr. Depp was playing main role.

I have always liked Johnny Depp since I saw him in 21 Jump Street oh so many years ago, and have enjoyed all his performances which he plays with gusto – be it pirate, investigator or serial killer.

The story of the new movie of about the grisly revenge played out by Benjamin Barker, a man imprisoned unjustly by a judge who. Barker manages to escape and return as the barber Sweeney Todd to exact his revenge on the judge. Of course there are numerous other victims and Mrs. Lovatt who pitches in with the creation of special meat pies from the remains. Quite dark indeed.

Aside from Johnny Depp, the film co-starts include Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Alan Rickman

Directed by Tim Burton, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, promises to be another sleek, grim, occasionally tongue-in-cheek fantastical horror movie.

Pity I don’t know when it will reach Japan ZZZzzz.

Amy’s ArmsLocation: Canada Ontario – Genre: Gothic Rock/Ambient, New Age, Ambient Mood.

Amy’s Arms is a smooth dark music landscape perfect for those nights you want to alone or mixing with a few friends. Best described as Gothic lounge music it contains a mix of low frequency ballads to more upbeat tracks that could be layered into dance beats by the right DJ.

The band is made of Siren a strong, gorgeous vocalist capable of slow ballads in the title track Amy’s Arms, and more upbeat tracks like Blood on the Rocks. You can even catch an impish playfulness in Dark ‘n Cozy. Whether withered sorrow or dark celebration the vocals are crisp. Mr. Ratt does an excellent job with programming and bass keeping the beat inline with the emotion of each track.

The influences for the music range from the darker edge of Japanese Visual Kei to U.S. and European beats. Themes span from love, despair, vampires and a lot more in a dark Victorian Gothic style.

Overall this is a neat mix of very listenable music for those looking for some dark Gothic Victorian with a taste of humor and irony.

Amy’s Arms (Official), but she is a little tired so you might want to try Amy’s Arms in MySpace.

A big thanx to Amy’s Arms for sending across a couple of CDs. The CD got a lot of playtime while I bided my time with all the other crazies in happy land. When I get on top of things I will start doing some serious reviewing. Amy’s Arms are a lounge Goth act from Canada and do a bang-up job with some dark emotional music. The members are Siren on vocals and Mr. Ratt on bass and programming.
You can find them at their Myspace locale with a few trax to get a taster including a hot cover of Wicked Game!

They are a great mix of Gothic Lolita with big-ass boots! Here are a few videos for you to check out.
