The www.jgoth.com Web space will now be a bulletin board for those into the Japanese gothy industrial scene to talk more freely. Also note that Igor runs a global Gothic community site at www.gothers.com (around 3,800 members and counting).

Fashion Bomb

Hailing from Chicago, Fashion Bomb delivers an infectious mix of hard industrial, laced heavily with rock and metal in “Devils to Some, Angels to Others.” Indeed, the metal plays such a significant role that it could be considered a dark metal album with Gothic overtones. Either way, this is an exciting work that should satisfy those who like some bite in their music. Weighing in at 14 songs plus one remix, this is one powerful CD.

Out of the gate with a jet engine intro is “SS” which plays hard throughout with the anthemesque question “When will we all be free.”

Nothing is a catchy hard rock song being ridden with strong vocals.

The next track, “Low,” starts off with a single guitar and builds up slowly until it cuts a less violent sound, but maintains the wrath of the first song.

“Avarice” works all soundscapes with industrial, hard rock and metal. The lyrics are an important part of this song about avarice and some suicidal undercurrents.

Another anthemesque sound makes up the background of “Rant,” while “God Drug” is a hot piece of thrash metal.

“The Line” is harsh rock/metal-laced industrial with a dose of screamo thrown in for good measure.

“Ascend This Day” tends more towards industrial and is another powerful track.

The track, “Drugpool,” delivers some dark speed metal along with lighter industrial tone for the verses.

“Skin” is unashamedly heavy rock doused with fine vocals.

“Over It” continues the band’s addictive sounds and the music powers through the song.

“Christ Puncher,” focuses on the vocals with the guitar work more in the background.

“Mold” is a quieter piece again focusing on the vocals with guitars and drums following the vocalists’ lead.

“Looks That Kill” is a cool piece of work about a femme fatale.

The final track is a remix of the “Low (Asrok’s High Mix)” provides a slower more mellow version of the track.

In summary, this album is full of top-notch hard industrial/rock/metal music with a powerful voice riding over the heavy music. The production values are high for this album without a glitch noticed.

All tracks on Fashion Bomb’s “Devils To Some, Angels to Others” could be played at the start of a gig and have you rushing to the stage with an extreme rush of adrenaline! For a 15-track CD with no misses, this is one high-value CD!

Sometime early yesterday Gothers.com crossed the 2,500 member threshold. I would like to thank each and everyone for joining up with Gothers. THANK YOU!!

As a small token of my appreciation I have decided to put on 22 hours of power where I will stay online from Sunday 2 a.m. through to midnight Japan Standard time. You can work out what time it is in Japan here:
http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_JP.aspx
And see all time zones at:
http://www.worldtimeserver.com/worldclock.aspx

I am not exactly sure what I am going to do as entertainment, but will be online and in the chatroom to talk things up. I also hope to do a CD review of Fashion Bomb!
http://www.myspace.com/xfashionxbombx

This will appear on my Japan (and others) Goth blog at:
http://www.jgoth.com/

So, if you have any time to give Gothers a little spin, the Web slob will be online around Saturday to Sunday depending on your time zone. Remember Igor will be online on Sunday from 2 am to midnight Japan time.

Cheers!

Igor
Cutting through the layered noise are the spoken-word vocals. The sound structure and vocals have a hint of Combi-Christ, but this band is definitely something unique and downright addictive.

The first track, “Grind,” unleashes heavily distorted beats with anthem-like vocals, which delivers an insidiously addictive sound. “Paint Hell Red” is a powerful track with a quirky electro-glitch beat.

Third track, “Devilicious,” (Sample) is a hot industrial-dance number while track four, “Skinny Little Bitch,” (Sample) is an infectious dose of heavily-layered glitch-backed sounds with clever vocals. “Red” is an aggressive track with socio-economic-political lyrics. “Kill Kitty” is one hard-hitting track mixing sado-masochism with political undertones.

“Lust Worthy” is a wonderful, harsh slower-tempo track that works well with alcohol! “Shaved Monkey” revs up the tempo with its acidic sound and vocals. “Girls Poison” is a super-heavy beat almost drowning the vocals.

“Home-Machinery” has a quirky back beat to keep you on your tows and the vocals offer an attack on materialism or the slavery of materialism. The album finishes off with “Jugular,” a vitriolic song with heavily layered noise and vicious vocals.

Overall, I found Blood Death Ivory to be immediately infectious and very addictive. A lot of the music should make hell on the dance floors and give a good hard ear drum thumping wherever it is listened too. This is definitely a JGoth-recommended record!

Dead Scarlet Records has just released Glimmer Void’s debut 5-track album “Souls Parade” in digipack cd, limited edition.
Glimmer Void is a band from Athens, Greece, that combine ethereal female vocals with dark atmospheric melodies, influenced by the Gothic, neo-folk and neo-classical music scene.

Bio
Originally formed in Athens, in September 2004 by Stelios Mastrodiamadoglou (keyboards, guitar), Thalia Makri (vocals, lyrics) and George Kokkoras (drums, percussion), Glimmer Void started working on experimental ideas to create songs that combine ethereal female vocals with dark atmospheric melodies.

The band felt completed only after Vaggelis Babadelis (guitar) and Diana Rahmanina (cello) joined in
The process of recording began no sooner than the year 2006 and the result of it was the debut album “Souls Parade” consisting of 5 tracks.
“Souls Parade” is now out thanks to Dead Scarlet Records.

At the present time, there are two new members, George Skoufas, (male vocals and bass guitar) and Dimitris Zannis at the guitar, after Vaggelis left the band.

Glimmer Void is now giving live concerts to the Greek audience and continues writing new songs for their next album.
