Another score for dark souls who value lifestyle. Organized by Mizore (an industrial Goth-in-exile) and Pigeonmilk (methinks) – who were grand enough to sign up for some darkness here – ArtsyBugs brings together artists, creators and people who love and appreciate all things creative.

Okay, I quoted that bit, but it is a great opportunity to chill out and enjoy on a Sunday evening. The people mix is good (gaijin and non-gaijin), the art and music pretty cool and the space is large so you can kick back in a corner or swan around. It’s got a laid-back style like the artsy pub back home – something Igor sorely misses and hasn’t seen anywhere in Tokyo.

ArtsyBugs is every 2nd Sunday of the month @ The Pink Cow. Bring your work, or just meet some new people creating the funky stuff. It starts @ 6 p.m. and is just 500 yen @ the door – good food and social lubricants available.

Get the leather together for Tokyo’s biggest live Goth event, Tokyo Dark Castle #13. Mixing the retro with the electronica and the punk with the metal, TDC13 is going to take you on a great night. For a primer you can check some previous event reports (TDC #12, TDC #11)

The Mix

You’ve got goth-glam with a hard edge from Osaka’s veterans Jubilee, more Osakan ax-screaming with punk romantics Satanyanko, Tokyo Goth-rock legends Auto-Mod, sexed up electronica from Euthanasie, soulful operatics from Selia, sounds to rouse the dead from Destruct System and some loud stuff from Cut the Crap. Very nice balance and with TDC you know the acts have got their sh*t together!

Bonus!

I saw one message on TDC that Australia’s ABC (that’s the gov TV broadcaster, guv) may be slooking around to scope the event. I’m not sure if this is for a docu-news segment or for the all-night music proggy RAGE!, but remember to be dressed up (or dressed dead) for the Ozzies! Maybe I should tattoo JGoth.com on my forehead… 90% of the crowd are dressed to impress or to distress, so have no fear of donning that number you thought may be too much – it’ll be just right tonight!
Tickets

If you want to book tickets beforehand to save some cash or afford another drink, you can usually jump to one of the bands’ sites and send a mail to reserve. If you can’t deal with the Japanese, pick a band with some English on the site (the more, the better) and let them know things like name, phone number, number of people. After that, when you get to the gig, you give your name and which band you booked with (they check the lists). Doing this not only saves you a bit of money, but helps the bands at the end of the night when the numbers are tallied up for the payout.
