The US Embassy in Tokyo’s January 2005 newsletter included a statement regarding Tokyo’s Roppongi district after a murder of an American in an office block in early December. There have been a few things this year, including a few deaths from overdoses earlier in the year (I seem to remember reading something about the supplier being another foreigner).

Well, Roppongi is a heedy nightspot (had a friend who would throw himself like superman onto service counters in his crazier moments), so always remember to take care.

Yep, the Cali Governator declared his love for the funky weasels, despite vetoing legislation that would make them legal in California:

I love ferrets. I co-starred with a ferret in ‘Kindergarten Cop.’ However, this bill is too bureaucratic and it legalizes ferrets prior to conducting an environmental impact report.

Incredible to think there are half a million of the furrballs in the state. Have a read of the report from San Diego Union Tribune.

This is a much better attitude than Ben Stiller’s panning of his weaselly co-start for biting him on the chin during filming.

Well one of the biggest excuses to don a Doraemon costume in Japan, the Tokyo Game Show, has come and gone. Fortunately, Mainichi was good enough to drop a little cosplayer slide-show on their site for y’all. Not sure if there was a glitch, but the slide-show sluices into the 2003 Game Show – which is kinda cool. Check out the pictures.

Whoa! Big freaking earthquake in Saitama (I live in the badlands of Tokyo, just across the river from Saitama). Scoring a 5.8, this little temblor had most of my house doing the drunken sailor and I hadn’t even touched the Absinthe tonight! Looks like all is well though, and I’ll have to work again tomorrow alas.

Footnote on ferrets and earthquakes: neither ferret gave a damn about what was happening.
